Remembering massacre victims in the midst of merrymaking

REMEMBERING FALLEN COMRADES. At the start of a corporate-sponsored party for the media, a special prayer was made for the fallen mediamen, victims of a massacre in Maguindanao. A female editor was heard commenting, “It’s admirable nga bisan nag lipay-lipay ta, gihinumdoman nila ang atong mga igsuon sa buhat nga gipangpatay.” Another mediaman said, “Bitaw uy, luoy gyud kay wala na sila makaabot sa Pasko.”

AMPATUAN ON THE MAP. During one of the games of that said media party, the people were divided into teams and were made to identify on a given map of the Philippines, the locations of the offices of the group of companies. A handsome team captain who led the purple team wrote on the Mindanao area the name “Ampatuan” which drew giggles from his female admirers.
