In the PBA just cheer, not jeer

HAVE BAT WILL STRIKE - Juanito V. Jabat   -

This text message got into the mobile phone of a friend: "It's Oktoberfest month. Pray the Rosary." The texter probably had one beer too many.

* * *

It was seen on tv how PBA player Wynne Arboleda kicked a taunting fan who had earlier kicked about Wynne's way of play.

* * *

The PBA who did not like Arboleda's behavior did its own kicking too. It kicked Wynne out of the current season.

* * *

The PBA's advice to fans is: "Cheer not jeer." Wise advise. Someone who didn't like it nearly lost his jeer life.

* * *

Let's face it. The trouble involving PBA player Arboleda could not have happened if the fan only cheered his team and not jeered the opposing team, especially one of its player, Arboleda.

The Metro Manila police will do away with the practice of fielding "Santa cops" in the malls during the Christmas season. "High time they did," said Inday Luciano, a TF reader in Mandaue City. "They've been making the policemen look silly and funny in that Santa getup," she stressed.

* * *

Inday Luciano added that the Santa cops idea was childish. "It demeans the respectability of the policemen," she said. "I'm glad it's not being done by Cebu policemen, or is it?"

Former President Erap Estrada has been reported in the papers us promising that "if elected in the 2010 elections, he would bring peace and order in this country." How? By declaring all-out war against the Moro rebels and the NPA guerillas.

* * *

 He stressed during the United Nations anti-poverty forum that only by wiping out the Moro rebels and the communist guerillas could a President hope to bring peace in this country.

* * *

Big deal. But first, Erap has to win the Palace back. And at this point in time the prognosis is not as good as what the masa community believes.
