Readers: Ban kids from Internet Cafés

- The Ear -

NET ADDICT. Readers called up The Ear to ask barangay officials to strictly enforce the Internet Cafe ordinance. A mother of a fourth grade student in Guadalupe said that her son has become addicted to Internet games and has skipped classes twice already since classes opened. She said, “Na addict na akong anak sa Internet. Abi nako’g ni-eskuwela, tua ra diay ang nawong sa internetan.”

HELP. An aunt of a high school student also confessed that her nephew no longer wants to go to school. He would tell his aunt that he would email his parents who are working in the Middle East, but would spend hours at the Internet Café playing games and surfing the Net. She said, “Nabuang na ni sa internet. Mo email kuno sa ginikanan pero hasta 5 ka oras sa internetan.” Both readers are asking the barangay officials to monitor Internet Cafés in their respective barangays and to ban kids from going there.
