Floodwaters and dirty clothes

- The Ear -

FLOODING EVERYWHERE. During the heavy downpour yesterday afternoon, most streets in the city went underwater. Floodwaters rose as high as waist deep in downtown areas. People were seen wading through floodwaters, people sprayed by the dirty water from passing vehicles, esteros overflowed and garbage floated. MJ Cuenco Ave. and even uptown areas like Archbishop Reyes Ave. looked more like rivers than roads.

WET AND DIRTY. Because of the flood, many got wet, not only by the falling rain, but also because they were forced to wade through the flood, waist-high in some areas. A nurse coming out from hospital duty got his white uniform all wet and dirty. He said, “Grabeha aning baha uy. Paita, puwerteng hugawa akong uniform.”
