On Mike's tidiness drive in City Hall

HAVE BAT WILL STRIKE - Juanito V. Jabat   -

A so-called cause-oriented group in Manila wants the Chinese-funded Southrail project stopped. In other words that group wants it derailed.

Reader Myra Prado (“Not Pardo,” she says) says: “Mirisi ra tong kaskaserong drayber nga natipi.” Another way of saying “mirisi” is Myra, right? Myra nga natipi.

“The worms will eat us after we die,” I heard this said on tv. That’s why many are going for cremation to prevent the worms from feasting on them.

I have noticed that more and more people want to be cremated when their time is up. Because cremation is a great equalizer. For didn’t I say once that with our modern crematoriums, men are cremated equal?

Vice Mayor Mike Rama, my friend Art Abregonde’s best bet for mayor, is encouraging tidiness in City Hall offices. One observer said: “Husto kaha ning gibuhat sa bise mayor, Sir Tom?”

This being Lenten season (it’s now Holy Week, in fact), Vice Mayor Mike said City Hall officials and employees should “examine and cleanse their conscience.” Tom O is a CH official, right, Sir Mike? So he’s included in your admonition, right again?

Banat News contributor/columnist Kriss E. Relatado feels bad because he was berated by some readers over the poem he wrote about VM Mike Rama (BN, March 28). “Daghang wa kasabot,” Kriss lamented. Part of the writing game, Kriss. I have also been berated a number of times by readers who could not understand what I wrote even if my style of writing is designed to be understood even by a fifth grader.

Thanks to John Baring of Lapu-Lapu City for the kind words about my column. In his e-mail last week, John said and I quote: “I always look forward to reading your column.” I am tempted to let you in on the rest of what John said but I’d rather keep it to myself and whisper: “Puwera buyag, John.”

John Baring said the Earth Hour which the world observed was intended to save the environment. He said the LTFRB, LTO and CITOM should do their part in this effort to protect the environment by going after smoke belching motor vehicles. Yes, indeed. Why are there still motor vehicles blowing out thick black smoke? I thought they’ve been doing something about this ecology problem a long time ago.
