E-mail from Phil Lumantad: “I don’t know what your position is regarding the $60,000 find in the Inayawan garbage dump, but mine is, I’d keep the money if I were the scavenger. Not only is there a saying ‘Finders keepers’ but there’s also another dictum that says ‘Opportunity knocks but once.’”

Mr. Lumantad said: “You may call me dishonest ... but I have to respect God’s will in giving me a way to have a better life. What say you, Sir?” Oh, well, I say God has given you a free will and add to that the fact that this is still a free country.

E-mail from Raymund Plata Uy, a US-based Cebuano: “Thanksgiving Day is big deal in the US. It’s not only roasted turkeys but also big parades, fireworks, shopping bargains, dancing in public places, etc. Sunod-sunoron man gyud tas Kano nganong di man ni nato sundon diha sa Pinas? Let’s celebrate Thanksgiving Day like they do here in America. It’s a celebration that enables us to be thankful to God for the blessing He has bestowed upon us.”

Seriously, my being Pinoy makes me root for Manny Pacquiao and hope for his victory despite the odds stacked against him in the gambling houses in Las Vegas and Macau. Manny should win to stop the losing skid of Pinoy boxers against their Latino foes in recent days.
