Laughter energizes the body, so laugh!

HAVE BAT WILL STRIKE - Juanito V. Jabat   -

Let me start on a bright note by sharing with you this text messages from Judelyn Saavedra, my clerical aide: “Whatever gives you laughter, do it more often coz it will bring lightness to your heart, energy to your body and wonders to your soul.”

But, Judelyn, in this time of global economic crisis, if we could manage to laugh the world would not anymore laugh with us. The world would wonder why we’re laughing.

A fellow mediaman stayed overnight Oct. 31 by the grave of his dear mother at the Queen City Memorial Garden. His family assigned him to the graveyard shift.

Another fellow newsman has concocted a barbecue and lechon suace that he plans to mass produce soon. He’s calling it “Reliable Sauce.”

A news story from The Netherlands has it that a man streaking on a golf course during a tournament was hit by a golf ball and died. If the coroner was a Filipino, he would’ve asked the victim: “Isang bola ka lang?”

I read in the Philippine Star that the funeral cost has gone up so high because of the economic crunch that a lot of people have been choosing the cheaper funeral arrangement for their departed loved ones. Which led someone to comment: “Maninguha lang ta mabuhi og dugay-dugay kay grabeng mahala ron kon kita mamatay.”

Reader Edgar Villena wanted to go to his hometown in the south (Samboan) with his five-year-old daughter last Nov. 1. But it was difficult to get into the bus bound for his town. So he said he decided not to push through with his trip. “Nag-inilogay og sakay ang daghang pasahero,” he said. “Tuay usa ka babaye nga kalit misinggit kay gikuot kuno ang iyang tinaguan.”

Mr. Villegas suggested in a phone call that Cebu follow the operation of the bus terminal in Manila. “Morag airport terminal,” he said. “Areglado kaayo. Hapsay. Human ka palit og ticket, adto ka sa pre-departure area huwat sa boarding sa bus nga nadestino sa imong adtuanan.”

He said he was impressed by the orderliness of the boarding procedure. “It’s like boarding a plane,” he said. “No hassle.”
