Readers welcome MCIAA ban of taxis that don't use meter, but...

- The Ear -

GOOD MOVE. Several readers called up The Ear to say that they welcome the move of the Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) to ban taxis that refuse to use the meter. A businessman who engages in “buy and sell” said that he regularly travels to and from Manila. He said that it’s the practice of cabbies to ask P300 or P400 from passengers. He said, “Mao na man gyud na ilang binuhatan. Ilang rason, mamawi lang sila kay kolektahan sab daw sila sa guard sa airport.”

HOW? Another reader who also said she welcomes the move of MCIAA to ban abusive cabbies has this to add: “Pero unsaon man nila pagkahibalo nga kanang taxiha dili mogamit og meter? Maghulat ra ba sila og naay moreklamo? Dili man klaro kung unsa gyud ilang patakaran para wagtangon ning mga abusadong drivers.”
