Beware of circulating "cell number raffle"

- The Ear -

WINNING CEL NUMBER. The Ear received a call from a reader asking if there is an existing raffle of cell phone numbers. She said she received a text which stated: “(Notice) Ur simcard number won P650,000 in our 2nd anniversary pre-raffle draw. From: Millionaires Club Inc. For more details, call me now! I’m Sec. Vic G. Ignacio.”

SIMILAR TEXT. Another reader also received a text that said: “From: International Foreign Charity Inc. Ma’am and Sir. Congrats, ur cell number had won P750,000 through electronic raffle draw. For more details, please call me now. I’m James Gatchalian, the auditor of Phils. Charity Foundation.”

IGNORE IT. They called up The Ear asking if the texts they received were for real. The reader were asking, “Tinuod kaha ni? Unsay akong buhaton?” When the desk person asked them if they joined a contest, their answer was a collective “no.” They were then advised to ignore the text. A mediaman commented, “Unsaon pagkadaog nga wala may gi-enteran.”
