Skills learned saved them from Princess of the Stars tragedy

SWIMMING LESSONS. A woman survivor also said that the swimming lessons she learned when she was a child proved to be a lifesaver. Her relatives who knew that she is a good swimmer were also confident that she could take care of herself.

True enough, she survived the tragedy. A mother who heard this story told her husband, “Ato gyud ni i-enrol atong mga anak og swimming lessons dear.”

LOOK AT THE CREW. The Ear heard that stories of some survivors of the Princess of the Stars tragedy that struck hundreds of passengers last weekend. One survivor who used to be a nautical student said he observed that the ship’s crew acted weird that day.

He said they seem agitated and acted “not normal.” Sensing that something was seriously wrong, he decided to go to the top deck and strap on a life jacket and waited for the call to “abandon ship.” He later told a mediaman, “Daghan sab gud ta’g nakat-onan sa Nautical. Pagkakita nako nga lain na ang linihokan sa crew, aw, kahibaw na ko nga molubog na gyud ang barko. Nag andam na ko daan.”
