50 centavos fare hike confusing to passengers, PUJ drivers

P6.50 or P7?. Many passengers and drivers have expressed confusion on the 50 centavos fare hike on jeepney fare. Passengers have expressed concern that the instead of 50 centavos, they would have to shell out P1 because drivers would not give them 50 centavos change when some drivers started collecting P6.50 from passengers.

One college student said, “Kung mohatag kag P6, ingnon ka sa kondoktor nga kuwang og 50 sentimos. Pero inig hatag nimog P7, dili na mohatag sukli. So, pila man diay gyud ang plite? P6.50 o P7?”

TO GIVE OR NOT TO GIVE. Some PUJ drivers have also expressed confusion on whether to ask for additional 50 centavos when passengers only give P6. One jeepney driver told an Ear informer, “Maglibog ko kung mangayo ba kog 50 sentimos kay pangitaan kog taripa sa pasahero. Akong gihimo, dili nalang ko mangayog dugang. Kung mohatag sila’g P6.50, mas maayo. Kung P6 ra, aw, ok na lang sab.”
