How to stay within your food budget

HAVE BAT WILL STRIKE - Juanito V. Jabat   -

The Ombudsman has finally acted on the controversial Asean Summit lampposts case. Now the public is no longer in the dark.

For quite a time many thought that the case about the scandalous lamppost have dimmed leaving people groping for light.

A gay manucurist no longer talks to a non-gay workmate in a beauty shop. All the latter did was tell him in jest: “Kon  mag-date mo sa imong boyfriend seguradoha nga way canister sa iyang bulsa.”

* * *

The gay manicurist defended his BF saying: “Hoy, ngano mag dunay canister, imo bang (name of body part withheld) hilabtan.” After that, the talking terms ended.

It says here that a beauty queen has also complained about the high cost of food these days. Who was it who said that “lips, however rosy, must be fed.”

A veteran journalist, a friend and contemporary of mine, paid me a visit last Monday afternoon. We talked about a lot of things, mainly politics, his forte. This colleague of mine believes there won’t be an election in 2010. And he’s putting his credibility on the line.

This colleague of mine, who is good in analyzing current events in relation to politics, said the current “ chaos” over skyrocketing food prices and the so-called rice shortage have something to do with the “no-el” in 2010.

  Lapu-Lapu City Tourism Commissioner Ahmed Cuizon, in a TV interview about the staging of “Kadaugan sa Mactan,” credited former Customs Collector David “Boy” Odialo as the initiator — yes, the father — of the celebration under the original billing “Bahug-Bahug sa Mactan.”

So it’s now “Kadaugan.” But “Bahug-Bahug” has stuck. Many people from Cebu City and other places outside Lapulapu still say: “Adto tas Opon, tan-aw Bahug-Bahug.” And this year, we’ll be hearing some people say: “Adto tas Bahug-Bahug naas  Manny Pacquiao.”

BOBIT SAYS. “Lord, give us strength to trust You when life’s burdens seem too much to bear; dispel the darkness with new hope and help us rise above despair.”
