Erap starts drive for 2010 presidency

HAVE BAT WILL STRIKE - Juanito V. Jabat   -

They say Madam Imelda Marcos is one of the most moneyed Pinays. That’s why she’s called Purse Lady, right?

“Lover Turns Hoodlum, Robs Girlfriend” — Headline. I think he deserves to be called Robbin’ Hood.

Erap is supporting the move to impeach GMA. Here’s another chance for GMA to pardon Erap the second time around. Erap is enjoying his freedom, embarrassing in the process GMA who gave him that freedom.

* * *

Erap has been going around Manila purportedly to thank those who continue to go crazy about him.  My friend Nick-Nick from Labangon believes this is the start of Erap’s campaign for the presidency in 2010.

Nick-Nick says opposition presidentiables might wake up one morning to see Erap standing in their way as the man they have to contend with in the pursuit of their presidential ambition.  Sure, Erap has said he’s no longer interested in politics. “Pero,” says Nick-Nick, “only fools don’t change their mind. Unya buangan mong Erap?”

But the latest political talk has it that Erap’s meeting with the masa in some places in Manila is not for him but for Sen. Jinggoy Estrada who is being groomed for the presidency. “Jinggoy for the presidency?” asked Nick-Nick. “Oh, my God!” he exclaimed.

Given the kind of politics we have in this country where anything goes, it is not impossible for Jinggoy to become a presidential contender. It’s not even farfetched for GMA to name Erap as the official candidate for president of her political party.

Freelance mediaman Art Abregonde is urging everyone to pray. He says prayer can save us from tragedies and calamities. He also says that God’s power is in our hands if we pray with faith. Prayer really works! He stresses. I agree. Unfortunately, many people have forgotten to pray. They include some people in government who’d rather prey than pray.

Congratulations to the UV Chorale for reaping international honors in the recently held Busan Choral Festival in Busan, South Korea. Cebu’s best bet in the festival, where 39 other singing groups from Asia, America and Europe competed, bagged the silver and bronze medals. Not bad for a newcomer in the competition. Sir Dodong Gullas who worked hard to enable the UV Chorale to compete as Cebu’s representative to this prestigious singing festival is pleased and is glad that the Visayanian chorale did not let the Cebuanos down, especially those who responded to his call for support.
