Letter to the Editor — Scheming politicians

Again, we will see in this election scheming politicians of Mandaue City who place personal interest over and above general welfare. When an elected official fails in his ultimate goal, he also loses his supporters simply because patronage and power are inseparable.

Rare are political leaders who are still esteemed by the people even after leaving public office. They belong to the breed which considers public office as a public trust. They are leaders who can be described as epitome of integrity and honesty.

I heard over DYRF commentaries designed to discredit and blacken the image of former Gov. Pablo Garcia but failed to exercise some reverence for someone older than him. Pablo Garcia's achievements as outstanding legislator not only once or twice in uninterrupted succession in congress is our pride, he is a feather in our caps as Cebuanos and for that he deserves some respect.
