Statement - Gwen invites taxpayers' revolt with road closure
February 27, 2007 | 12:00am
The party-list group Anakpawis urges Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia to reopen Larsian Road immediately. The governor is risking a taxpayers' revolt who feel the brunt of her politically erroneous move.
Gov. Garcia should realize that closing Larsian is such a burden to the public she has sworn to serve. Her drastic decision to do so is ill-advised. Besides, she does not own the lot but the people.
Anakpawis calls on affected taxpayers to assemble at the Larsian Road to collectively register its disgust over its closure.
Urban poor groups are planning to initiate the reopening of Larsian Road through concerted mass action should Garcia refuse to heed to the demand of Anakpawis.
It's just and rightful for the people to take direct political action against any repressive acts and policies of elected government officials.
