Readers: Is the Church exempted from transparency, honesty?

- The Ear -
TIT FOR TAT. The Ear heard many reactions to the statement of Msgr. Dakay who said that the government should tell the people the real reason for the postponement of the ASEAN Summit. Apparently many people took exception to his criticizing the government when the Church nowadays is also under fire for withholding the name of the priest who allegedly molested the girls during a confession. A public school teacher said, "Kung gusto ang simbahan nga itug-an sa gobyerno ang tinuod nga rason sa pagsibog sa Summit, angay sab itug-an sa simbahan ang tinuod nga pangalan sa bastos nga pari."

PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH. A retired government official also commented, "The Church should practice what they preach. Kay ngano? Exempted diay ang simbahan when it comes to transparency and honesty? They can demand transparency and honesty from our government but they can't provide the same?"
