The frat gang war is back

A newspaper reader complains that the price of bread has gone up beyond his reach. Could be the reason why people no longer throw bread at someone who throws stone at them. Some throw, instead, five peso coin. It's cheaper.

The frat gang war is back. A fratman was shot by another fratman during the Naga fiesta celebration last week. This was followed by another frat-related killing in Mandaue last Friday.

"What must be done to get rid of the troubles caused by notorious frat gangs?" I asked Lambert Que, a business exec who visited me last Saturday.

"Get rid of the two notorious gangs masquerading as fraternities," Mr. Que said.

"In what way?" I asked. "It seems that all possible means had been tried to no avail."

"Nasuwayan na ba ang barang? Ipabarang ang tanang sakop sa duha ka frat gangs," he said adding: "He, he, he!"

Marathoner/sportswriter Raffy Uytiepo has invited me to join the fun run in honor of Our Lady of Lourdes on Oct. 29, Sorry, I can't run. Not anymore. I'll just limp to the altar and pray for the fun run's success.
