American, European tourists annoyed with Koreans

THE EAR

ROWDY KOREANS. At a fastcraft terminal going to Bohol the other day, several groups of foreign tourists - a couple of middle aged Americans and five European backpackers - patiently waited for the boat's arrival. Suddenly the noise level escalated with the arrival of a group of Koreans in their 20s. Some of the Koreans sat and placed their feet atop the chairs opposite them while other Koreans were horseplaying around, disturbing the other passengers at the terminal.

The American and European tourists frowned at the Koreans' rowdy behavior and shot dark looks at them but the Koreans seem indifferent by it all. The American couple turned to each other and rolled their eyes. One of them was heard saying, "Oh no, those loud Koreans again." TESTING THEIR ENGLISH. The Koreans noticed the European tourists and maybe to test their English-speaking ability, they hollered at the other Koreans across the terminal and they descended on the Europeans. Overheard was this conversation between Koreans and Europeans: Korean: "Hi, where you from?"

European: "Great Britain."

Korean: "We from South Korea."

European (with raised eyebrows): "We know." SNUBBED. He then sighed and said, "Excuse us." The Europeans turned their backs and walked away. One was heard saying, "Jeez. Those Koreans. Ugh!"
