It's the NPA who has blood in their hands!

I was amused by the statement issued by Dennis Abarrientos, the Secretary General of Karapatan-Central Visayas, which this newspaper printed last Wednesday who said, "Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia-Codilla virtually encourages the escalating political killings in the region and across the country with her open endorsement of the government's all-out war in Cebu." True to form, these so-called "friends" of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) especially its armed wing, the New People's Army (NPA) did not include in their statement what Gov. Gwen completely specially when she stated… that she declared war against the Communists especially the NPA.

But did we hear the Governor declare that henceforth we should kill all Communists? No sir! What the Governor meant was, that we should go on an all-out war to fight the roots that breeds Communism. That means, if the Communists and their friends spread lies, we fight it by telling the truth and consequently, if the NPAs continue to "influence" a barangay by sowing fear because they are armed, then that threat will be met with equal force. If poverty breeds communism, then we'd work out plans to alleviate poverty.

Karapatan rattles statistics about those alleged political killings laid exclusive claim to the clamor for human rights, yet they are strangely quiet when soldiers are killed and the military merely mourn their loss in silence. Are they working only for the human rights of the NPAs? Karapatan further stated, "It is condemnable that the Governor has endorsed this militarist plot. In so doing, she is helping strangle whatever is left of our so-called democracy. Her hand is on the knife. And it is tainted in blood."

Come now, who really has blood in their hands? Gov. Gwen Garcia most certainly hasn't killed anyone, therefore we can say that it is the NPA who truly has blood in their hands! So if Karapatan doesn't want bloodshed in Cebu, then by all means they should ask their friends in the NPA to unilaterally move out of Cebu Province and if they do that, then I can assure you, there would be no more bloodshed. But that decision depends solely on the leadership of the CPP-NPA. Now if you folks in Karapatan truly want peace, why don't you start attacking the CPP-NPA first? Or are you afraid that their members would be targeted for another bloody purge?

Let me point out that Communist front organizations love to talk about democracy because it is convenient for them. Because our Democratic processes allow for Free Speech, the Communists can freely speak out their minds and spell out their cause. But if by a stroke of evil, they grab power in this country, I tell you, the first victim of Communism will be Freedom of Speech and newspapers would be the first establishments to be shut down.

In response to our article lauding the Cebu Governor for finally being the first Governor in Cebu to have the guts and the "balls" to openly declare war against the Communist insurgency, here's an email we got.

"Good day, sir. My name is Nelson. I am an avid reader of your Freeman column. I read your column last Monday about our Governor declaring an all-out war against communism. I agree on your stand to reinstate the Reserve Officers Training Corps to strengthen our youth against front organizations like the LFS but its best to really teach them the truth about Stalinism, Leninism and Karl Marx's communism to really combat these misleading ideologies fabricated by the CPP-NPA.

We all know the CPP-NPA adopted the concept of communism from USSR and PRC which was based on Stalin's and Lenin's concept of communism or otherwise known as "anti capitalism." They promise through this theory a society governed by such concept that all people living in the society are equal, a theory of communism which only answers the question of "having" meaning everybody is equal. We wear the same clothes, we all eat the same food and they claim that this is the solution and the only way to govern over a population. To add insult to injury, they claim that this is Karl Marx's theory of communism. But the truth is, Karl Marx's Communism or true communism answers the question of "being" and not having. So true communism does not deny the existence of God or a god for that matter… Nelson Seno [email protected]".

Thanks Nelson for the rejoinder but you missed telling us that our homegrown Commies have already shifted to a Maoist type of Communism when the version of Karl Marx was thrown out in the heartland of Communism. But then, China, where Mao's Communism won against the Nationalist Government of Chiang-Kai-Shek has also shifted to Capitalism. So what are our homegrown Commies really fighting for, except to grab political power and install a Communist government in this country?
