Touched by the Lord's love and divine mercy
May 29, 2006 | 12:00am
There were thousands present at the 11th Divine Mercy Convention. They braved the heat at the UC-METC to hear testimonies of those touched by the Lord's Divine Mercy such as Fr. Jesus Frederick Camacho, Msgr. Cristobal Garcia, and Bro. Rommel Salvacion. The Sta. Faustina Kowalska Community Music Ministry provided beautiful music to the thousands of devotees of the Divine Mercy. It was a sight to behold, to see a large crowd of believers!
Bro. Stanley, who has been acknowledged by the Church to have been brought back to life to be an active witness and steward for the Divine Mercy, led the worshippers for the 3 o'clock prayer. He said it very slowly, very fervently, in a very soft but distinct voice.
I am sure there were many of us who would have wanted to hear him speak lengthily about his various direct personal encounters with the Lord and His Divine Mercy. True to form, however, Bro. Stanley preferred to be very low key, to keep to his simple self, and like a steward, was busy backstage trying to attend to people's needs as well as making sure that the convention went as planned - to be truly a venue for the worship of the Lord and His divine love and mercy. Bro. Stanley knew he was merely a steward of that convention's real Stars - God and His infinite love and mercy as well as that of His Mother, Mama Mary.
Meeting Bro. Stanley the second time was truly a blessing. I had not expected to meet him soon after I arrived at the venue. I was on my way to the rest room when lo and behold, he was smiling in front of me. Neither did I expect him to remember me, much less buzz me warmly on my cheek. I do not understand what it is but I did get goose pimples around Bro. Stanley when he did that and when I held his hand.
I get that feeling occasionally when I feel the spirit of departed relatives or friends near their love ones. During these times, I readily inform the grieving relatives and friends that their departed ones want them to know that they are with them; occasionally, I am led to embrace and hug them tightly.
I felt the same goose bumps all over me when again, in the afternoon, with my cousin Belen Solideo who came all the way to Bohol to join the convention, we had the occasion to meet Bro. Stanley. Within me, I felt so happy to feel so because it was like the Lord came to greet me upon my arrival and to see me off in the afternoon, through Bro. Stanley's warm welcome and farewell.
I am also certain that for those who were there, it was a day of personal encounter with the Lord as it was for me. Aside from Bro. Stanley's warm hello and farewell, both occasions when I felt touched by the Lord, I also experienced the direct answers of the Lord to my prayers during the convention. Very simple prayers really but these were directly, speedily answered.
After meeting Bro. Stanley and coming from the rest room, when I entered the convention site, there was no available chair in sight. As I came in late, I knew it was impossible to find a place to comfortably sit in amid thousands of worshippers. As I was filling up my registration form, I prayed to the Lord to please find me a chair. When I turned around, immediately before me was an empty chair! Do you think I am wrong to say that the Lord gave me that chair after my prayer?
Then, I was informed by one organizer that only snacks were free and the guests had to take care of their own lunch. Again, I prayed to the Lord and asked Him to take care of my lunch for me. Shortly after, my cousin Belen showed up, with another friend, Sr. Fely, from Panglao but now assigned as a lay sister in Bicol. Guess what Sr. Fely told me soon after we were introduced? " Please join us for lunch, ha, kay we have prepared food where we are staying."
And there were more testimonies of personal encounters with the Lord from Sr. Fely and those whom I met at the convention worth sharing. Allow me to do that some other time. Perhaps you also have your own testimonies of being touched by the Lord that you wish to share with us? Do please send these to us via email or please fax or contact us at The Freeman.
Better still, you may find your own direct encounter with the Lord at the next Divine Mercy Convention. It would certainly be worth your time, to worship and feel the Lord's presence and love for you. Who knows, you may also be touched by Him as well, through His steward, Bro. Stanley and other stewards there.
