Letter to the Editor - Let's go ahead with Charter change
November 12, 2005 | 12:00am
I maintain that unless we amend the Constitution, we can never achieve genuine reforms and attain a non-simulated progress.
The present system has to be changed from presidential to that of parliamentary/federal form of government.
Look what the present system has done to our country and people. It only enriched those who are in power but impoverished the rest of us. Corruption continues without letup, and government services remain to be desired. Why stick to the present system?
We've been changing leaders. We've unconstitutionally "people-powered" two presidents. But what and where are we now? So it's not just the people but the system as well.
The time is now. Let's overhaul the system. Kon dili karon, kanus-a man?
