The right decision

Promotion at work. This is something that everyone dreams of. So when I got it, I, my friends, and especially my Dad, were overjoyed. But in spite of the title, increase in pay, and added benefits, I was unhappy. A few months after, I quit my job to heed the call to work full time for a Catholic publications company. I knew it was a radical move because the pay was only half of what I was getting from my previous job. And there were no fringe "material" benefits. Everyone, especially my father, was very disappointed.

However, in spite of all the disconcerting reactions, I stood firm. I knew this was what the Lord wanted me to do. My life changed. My secular life ended. My missionary life began.

I'm now married. My spouse is a missionary as well. We both decided to live a simple life and serve the Lord in whatever way He calls us.

On hindsight, I see the wisdom of God. Why? Because I'm happy. I may not have a title to my name. Nor a large bank account. I don't own a house, car, or credit cards, but God takes care of my needs. In my service to God, He has given me more than I could imagine. I've traveled to the United States, Europe, to almost all parts of the Philippines. I have a spouse who loves me and whom I love. Against all odds, I'm glad I obeyed.
