MANILA, Philippines — Nasamsam ang nasa P5.19 milyong halaga ng hindi dokumentadong imported na “hot meat” sa Pasay City, sa magkasanib na operasyon ng Department of Agriculture at National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), iniulat nitong Lunes.

Ayon sa DA, aabot sa humigit-kumulang 11.5 metric tons ang timbang ng mga nasamsam na karne ng Peking duck, kalapati, lamb, yellow chicken, black chicken, at iba pang frozen meat products mula sa hindi rehistradong cold storage meat warehouse.

Unang nagsagawa ng surveillance ang NBI bago sinalakay ang warehouse na hindi accredited ng National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) at hindi rin rehistrado bilang meat cold-storage warehouses.

Dalawang Chinese national ang dinakip ng NBI sa operasyon sa  umano’y paglabag sa Meat Inspection Code of the Philippines.

Ang mga nasamsam na produkto ay inilagak sa NMIS-accredited facility sa Meycauayan, Bulacan, na naghihintay ng court order para sirain.

Nagbabala ang DA na maaaring magdulot ng panganib sa tao at sa mga alagang hayop ang mga ilegal na inangkat na produkto ng karne, na posibleng makakuha ng African swine fever (ASF) at foot-and-mouth disease (FMD).
