EDITORIAL — The Blue Wave
As of this writing yesterday the votes for the U.S. midterm polls hadn’t been completely counted, but the partial results led all the major news sources to report that the Democrats will grab majority of Congress and the Senate for the last two years of President Donald Trump’s term.
Political pundits called the overwhelming vote for Democrats the Blue Wave after the traditional color of the Democratic Party. In this case it was more of a blue tsunami. This isn’t just a case of Democrats turning out to vote overwhelmingly, this is also a case of people identifying as Republicans voting against their party.
It has often been said that the midterm polls is a referendum of how the people think the government is doing. If the party in power which is currently the Republicans led by President Trump gets the vote, the people are happy; if the party that isn’t in power gets the vote, the people are dissatisfied.
Well, in this poll the American people have spoken and they don’t think the current U.S. administration is doing a good job.
Why should they? The U.S. and the world under it as de facto leader of the Free World are worse off than they were during the previous Biden administration.
President Trump has congratulated the Democratic Party, but he also said that if he had been on the ballot it would have been a landslide victory for the Republicans.
“I wasn't on the ballot and if I was, we would have won in a landslide! Thank you for your attention to this matter,” he said. He still doesn’t get it. It isn’t about him.
But then again maybe it was all about him. And that majority of the Americans are tired of his mismanagement of various issues and how the Republican Party has repeatedly let him get away with it.
Like we said earlier, if the Democrats win both Congress and the Senate they will be in a better position to prevent or even reverse President Trump’s destructive and self-destructive policies both at home and abroad.
The next two years of this administration promises to be very interesting.
