3 killed in Bangsamoro gun attacks

COTABATO CITY – A civilian employee of a police station and two women were killed while two others were wounded in separate gun attacks in three neighboring provinces in Bangsamoro region in the past two days.

One of the fatalities, Jonathan Juan, was on a motorcycle when he was killed in the town of Sultan Kudarat in Maguindanao del Norte yesterday morning.

Juan, a non-uniformed employee at the Sultan Kudarat police station, died at the scene of the attack, which occurred in Barangay Dalumangkob, according to Capt. Steffi Salanguit, spokesperson for the Bangsamoro police.

On Friday, Tarhata Samad was waiting for her order at an eatery in the nearby town of Datu Odin Sinsuat when an unidentified gunman shot her several times.

Samad died at the scene of the attack, which occurred in Barangay Semba.

A stay bullet hit another woman, identified as Soraya Ali, probers said. She was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Three hours later, Colie Mar Sugata-on was killed, while her husband was wounded in an attack by unidentified assailants at the border of Pikit in Cotabato and Pagalungan in Maguindanao del Sur.

The victim and her husband were in a multicab when the gunmen waylaid them along a bridge in Barangay Takepan in Pikit.

The assailants escaped on motorcycles.
