DoubleDragon set to open Japan hotel in December

MANILA, Philippines — DoubleDragon Corp., the listed company chaired by tycoons Edgar “Injap” Sia II and Tony Tan Caktiong, is poised to make history this year by opening the first Filipino hotel in Japan.
DoubleDragon, through its Nasdaq-listed subsidiary Hotel101 Global Inc., is currently building the 482-room Hotel101-Niseko, which will be the largest hotel in Kutchan, Niseko.
The company said the building facade has been completed and interior fit-out works are in full swing, putting the hotel on track to open in December.
“DoubleDragon is set to make another history this year as the first ever Filipino homegrown hotel chain to build and operate in the whole of Japan,” the company said.
It will be the company’s second operational international property, following the opening of the 680-room Hotel101-Madrid in March.
“Hotel101 in 2025 made history as the first ever Filipino company that has a subsidiary listed in the US Nasdaq, and this year, 2026, made another history as the first ever Filipino hotel chain brand to operate overseas,” DoubleDragon said.
Through Hotel101 Global, DoubleDragon aims to develop one million standardized rooms across 100 countries, with the ultimate goal of becoming the world’s largest single-brand hotel chain.
Earlier, DoubleDragon announced plans to bring Hotel101 to Thailand through a partnership with property developer Origin Property Public Co. Ltd. Definitive binding agreements were signed by both parties to jointly develop a 770-room Hotel101 in Bangkok.
Hotel101 Global also signed a joint venture partnership agreement with Saudi-headquartered investment company Horizon Group to develop up to 10,000 rooms worth about $2.5 billion in Saudi Arabia.
