DMW repatriates 7,674 OFWs

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 7,674 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) have so far been repatriated amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the Department of Migrant Workers reported yesterday.
Latest DMW data showed that the 5,669 OFWs and 1,382 dependents safely returned to the country through government-funded repatriations from March 5 to April 25.
Among those who were recently flown back to the country are 36 OFWs and two dependents on board separate commercial flights that landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 yesterday.
The DMW said there were 28 OFWs and four dependents from Doha, Qatar and another 196 OFWs from Kuwait who arrived on Friday night through commercial flights.
All the OFW returnees were provided with financial assistance, medical and psychosocial support and temporary accommodation.
Free transportation services were given to those going home straight to their provinces.
The DMW said the OFWs were oriented on the government’s reintegration program, which include job opportunities, livelihood support and upskilling.
