MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has released over P651 million in fuel subsidies to public utility vehicle drivers affected by the energy crisis.

“The distribution covers drivers and operators of modern and traditional jeepneys, UV Express, point-to-point buses, transport network vehicle service, taxis, tricycles and delivery services,” LTFRB Chairman Vigor Mendoza II said.

Metro Manila received the largest amount of fuel subsidies amounting to P181.278 million followed by Calabarzon with P98.215 million and Central Luzon with P73.416 million.

Mendoza admitted that the LTFRB encountered minor challenges in releasing the fuel subsidy to Metro Manila beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rex Gatchalian said the DWSD would conduct a special payout for drivers who were not on the agency’s list so they would be able to receive cash aid
