17,000 PCG men to assist Undas travelers

MANILA, Philippines — Up to 17,000 personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will be deployed at various ports in the country to assist travelers who will be going home in the provinces for the observance of All Souls and All Saints’ Day.
The PCG said all its operating units nationwide would be on heightened alert from Oct. 29 to Nov. 3 amid an expected passenger surge.
PCG spokesperson Cmdre. Noemie Cayabyab said PCG personnel would strictly inspect passengers and their baggage to ensure travel safety.
“We will activate the PCG deployable response group so we can respond immediately to any emergency,” Cayabyab said.
