3 killed in another attack in Cotabato City

COTABATO CITY , Philippines —  Three people were killed while two others were wounded in another attack by unidentified armed men in this city yesterday morning.

Maceda Yusop, Mokamad Lanta and Reni Hamsa died at the scene of the attack in Barangay Kalanganan 2.

Two others, Daryl Oliveros and June Lanta, were brought by responding barangay officials to the Cotabato Regional Medical Center for treatment of gunshot wounds.

Cotabato City police director Col. Jibin Bongcayao said the victims were walking near a fishpond when the armed men waylaid them.

The gunmen escaped in a pick-up truck, according to barangay officials.

The attack occurred several hours after a group of armed men ambushed personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard,  killing SN2 Reniel Agpalo and apprentice seaman Louther John Vitor on Thursday afternoon.
