DMW: P150K aid for OFWs not true

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) on Wednesday warned the public against false online information about financial assistance of P150,000 for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
In an advisory, the agencies said the information being spread on social media is fake and urged the public to remain vigilant against misleading posts and videos, including those that use artificial intelligence to appear legitimate.
The DMW and OWWA said such misinformation is concerning as the government continues to focus on ensuring the safety of OFWs in the Middle East.
The agencies advised Filipinos, especially migrant workers and their families, to verify information through the official social media pages of the DMW and OWWA.
While clarifying that there is no P150,000 financial assistance being distributed, OWWA said its members continue to receive benefits and support programs.
These include financial aid for OFWs in distress, livelihood and reintegration programs for returning workers, training assistance, scholarships and upskilling opportunities.
