6 CAAP personnel dismissed for drug use

MANILA, Philippines — The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines has dismissed from service six of its personnel who failed drug tests conducted in 14 CAAP-operated airports nationwide.
According to the CAAP, the drug tests were conducted on 1,703 of its personnel from February to August this year.
Those dismissed from the service include one from the General Santos international airport, three from Butuan airport and one each from the Ozamiz and Bacolod-Silay airports.
The chief of the Office of the Flight Surgeon and Aviation Medicine said the CAAP “continues to prioritize this initiative” as the safety and efficiency of aviation operations greatly depend on the physical and mental wellbeing of all its personnel.
The official added that the drug testing aligns with the Philippine Civil Aviation Regulation on Psychoactive Testing and Reporting as well as rules of the Civil Service Commission, which requires mandatory drug testing for all government employees.
