MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) has secured a P379.48-million funding grant from the Bloomberry Cultural Foundation Inc. (BCFI) for the construction of a modern warfare laboratory.

The project is part of the corporate social responsibility initiative of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) in support of the modernization of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

The BCFI funding covers the demolition of the old PMA Hospital and the construction of a new two-story warfare laboratory.

The facility is designed to equip PMA cadets with defense technologies, contemporary military concepts and advanced operational decision-making capabilities to handle the country’s evolving security environment.

Demolition of the PMA Hospital is expected to begin in the coming weeks. The state-of-the-art warfare laboratory is targeted for completion by the fourth quarter of 2027.

Pagcor chairman and chief executive officer Alejandro Tengco, who witnessed the signing of the memorandum of agreement between the PMA and BCFI, said the state gaming agency supports programs that strengthen the capabilities of the military.

Tengco said Pagcor’s support was in response to President Marcos’ directive to help address the needs of the AFP.

Tengco also lauded the Bloomberry foundation, led by its president Donato Almeda and chairman Enrique Razon Jr., for supporting the military.

Almeda reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to the PMA.

The warfare laboratory is the latest addition to the socio-civic projects for the military institution.
