PPA orders ATI to explain system glitch

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Ports Authority has issued a notice to the Asian Terminal Inc. (ATI) to explain a system glitch that caused heavy traffic at the Port Area in Manila on Thursday night, PPA general manager Jay Santiago said yesterday.
“Last night, the system of ATI, our terminal operator at the South Harbor, was down. It was resolved at 2 a.m. (on Friday). But despite it being already resolved, we still issued them a notice to explain,” Santiago said in an interview over dzRH.
The PPA said that the system glitch started at 8 p.m. on Thursday.
“Because of this, gate processing was affected, causing heavy traffic going to the terminal,” Santiago said.
He added that ATI should have issued an advisory through social media about the glitch to port users.
Santiago said the ATI should have a continuity plan if its system goes down.
