MANILA, Philippines — Even as the dry season is expected to be declared in the coming days, Baguio City continues to enjoy cooler temperature, registering 13.4 degrees Celsius over the weekend, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda said the northeast monsoon or amihan continues to weaken.

“Despite this, it still affects Northern and Central Luzon. These areas continue to enjoy cooler temperature and rains, especially Northern Luzon,” Castañeda said.

Also enjoying low temperatures are  Tanay, Rizal (18.4 degrees); Basco, Batanes (18.7 degrees); Abucay, Bataan (19 degrees); Casiguran, Aurora (19.2 degrees); San Ildefonso, Bulacan (19.9 degrees); Itbayat, Batanes (20.2 degrees); Malaybalay, Bukidnon (20.3 degrees); Laoag City, Ilocos Norte (20.4 degrees) and Tuguegarao City, Cagayan (20.8 degrees).

“In the next few days, we can see that the northeast monsoon will continue to weaken and the dry season will begin,” Castañeda said.

She advised the public to take necessary precautions amid the impact of hotter temperature on people’s health.

Yesterday, the temperature in Metro Manila ranged between 21 and 32 degrees Celsius.

“As of now, we do not monitor typhoons or low-pressure areas inside or outside the Philippine area of responsibility,” Castañeda said.
