MANILA, Philippines — To ensure the convenience of commuters, the operator of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 is extending LRT-1 services during weekdays.

The Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC) said the operating hours of LRT-1 would be extended by 30 minutes beginning today.

With the new schedule, the last train will leave Dr. Santos station in Sucat, Parañaque at 10:30 p.m. instead of 10 p.m.

The last train will depart Fernando Poe Jr. station in Quezon City at 10:45 p.m. instead of 10:15 p.m.

The schedule of the first train leaving both Dr. Santos and Fernando Poe Jr. stations remains at 4:30 a.m. on weekdays and 5 a.m. on weekends and holidays.

On Monday, the government-subsidized Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) extended its weekday operations by one hour to accommodate more passengers.

“We support the call of the Department of Transportation to provide extended service for commuters,” LRMC president and chief executive officer Enrico Benipayo said.

“We will continue to implement initiatives to better serve our passengers,” Benipayo added.

Sen. Grace Poe said the extension of MRT-3 and LRT-1 services is a “respite for commuters.”
