DOT continues ‘Love the Philippines’ campaign

The Department of Tourism announces its new campaign slogan on June 27, 2023.

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Tourism (DOT) continues its campaign to attract more foreign tourists to visit the country, with events organized in London and Sydney.

The campaign promotes the country’s tourist attractions in Metro Manila, Ilocos region, Batanes, the Cordilleras, Davao, Camiguin, Bohol, Siargao, Palawan and Iloilo.

In a post on Facebook, the DOT said events were organized over the weekend in London and Sydney as part of the “Love the Philippines” campaign.

It also launched the “immersive experience for residents and tourists” campaign at Arndale Center in Manchester City in England, where shoppers visited a replica of the Filipino bahay kubo and tried the tinikling dance, among other activities, from Nov. 15 to 17.

In Australia, the Philippine Community Council of New South Wales hosted an event that featured booths selling Filipino dishes lechon, adobo and halo-halo.

They also held a competition for parol or Christmas lantern making and coloring contest for children, aside from providing live Filipino music and dance performances.

In 2023, Australia ranked fourth among the Philippines’ top sources of foreign tourists, while the United Kingdom was ranked eighth.

Out of 5.45 million foreigners who visited the Philippines in 2023, at least 266,551 came from Australia and 154,698 from the United Kingdom, the DOT said.
