SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines — At least 4.2 kilos of suspected high-grade marijuana were seized by the Bureau of Customs at the Port of Clark.
The illegal drug, worth more than P280,000, came in two shipments from California, USA on Oct. 23.
According to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the drugs, labeled as bags of candies, were discovered after an X-ray scan and a K-9 sniff test. On closer examination, authorities found a brown sticky substance hidden in six bottles of a branded chocolate syrup.
Samples were also taken for analysis using the Customs Rigaku Spectrometer, which indicated that the shipment contained a substance identified as cannabinoid – a component of marijuana.
