MANILA, Philippines — An official of the Philippine National Railways (PNR) was flagged by personnel of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) for using the EDSA bus lane on Sunday night.

PNR chairman Michael Macapagal was not issued a traffic violation ticket as he immediately left the scene after the incident.

The DOTr Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (SAICT) said it would issue a show-cause order against Macapagal.

According to the DOTr, SAICT personnel pulled over Macapagal’s Ford Ranger on the northbound lane of EDSA Ortigas for using the busway.

When asked for his vehicle’s official receipt and certificate of registration for verification, Macapagal allegedly became agitated and claimed that he is affiliated with the DOTr.
