MANILA, Philippines —Bohol City Gov. Erico Aristotle "Aris" Aumentado said that almost 60 hogs in Dauis, Bohol tested positive for African Swine Fever (ASF).

Aumentado in an interview with GMA News on Monday morning that there are 57 ASF cases in Dauis.

He said that the affected hogs were recorded in the following barangays in Bohol town:

  • Mayacabac
  • Biking
  • Mariveles

In a separate statement, Aumentado, through an Executive Order (EO), said that he prohibited the transit of live hogs, meat and other pork-related products from Panglao Island, which comprised the towns of Dauis and Panglao, into mainland Bohol.

“The provincial government remains committed to being active and vigilant in protecting the livestock and poultry industry to secure food security in the province, including the P6 billion swine industry, against all forms of contagious and viral diseases,” he said.

“The province has also intensified its disease monitoring and surveillance to prevent the possible disease from spreading to other mainland areas and encourages all Boholanos to cooperate with the protocols as mandated in the EO,” the governor added.

The ban will take effect until May 18.
