Barangay kagawad, chief village watchman slain

MANILA, Philippines —  A barangay council member in Mangaldan, Pangasinan and the head of village watchmen in Nasugbu, Batangas were gunned down on Tuesday night.

Romeo del Campo, 43, of Barangay Guilig in Mangaldan, his partner and their six-year-old daughter were in a sport utility vehicle when they were shot, reports from the Ilocos police showed.

Deo Quilan, 30, a resident of Candelaria, Quezon, was arrested in pursuit operations in San Fabian.

In Batangas, Hilario Rodriguez, 53, was on his way to the barangay hall in Barangay Cogunan when he was shot.

A manhunt for the suspect identified as Victor Bayoneto is underway.
