Zamora allots P33.9 million for San Juan children
MANILA, Philippines — San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, in his State of the Children Address yesterday, reported that the local government allotted over P33.9 million or 12.42 percent of the city’s annual budget to fund programs and services for the children.
“We have come a long way to establish the rights of the youth. I am assuring everyone that we will continue allocating funds and implement programs for the youth,” Zamora said as part of the National Children’s Month celebration.
He also signed a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Council for the Welfare of Children for the Makabata Helpline 1383, which can be contacted to report violence against children.
“Children, you are lucky that you are a resident of San Juan. This city is beautiful due to its functional local councils for the protection of children, which reaches the barangay level. I am also congratulating San Juan for passing the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit,” DSWD Undersecretary Angelo Tapales said.
