Mimaropa, Central Visayas wage hike hearings set  

MANILA, Philippines — Minimum wage earners and domestic helpers in Mimaropa and Eastern Visayas may expect an increase in their daily take-home pay.

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards in the two regions have set public hearings on petitions for salary adjustments.

“These public hearings aim to provide all stakeholders, including employers, employees and those directly affected by the board’s actions, with the widest opportunity to express their opinions on the potential issuance of a new wage order,” the Mimaropa regional wage board said in a post on Facebook.

A hearing on wage hike petitions in Mimaropa will be held today at the municipal hall in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.

The regional wage board said public hearings would also be held at the Marelco Center for Interactive Learning in Boac, Marinduque on Sept. 27, Palawan provincial capitol in Puerto Princesa City on Oct. 11 and City College of Calapan in Oriental Mindoro on Oct. 24.

“We eagerly anticipate your active participation and valuable insights on the said dates,” the wage board said.

The last pay increase granted by the Mimaropa wage board was in June 2022. It provided a daily adjustment of P35.

The wage board in Eastern Visayas, on the other hand, set a public hearing on Oct. 9 at the Narciso hall of Hotel de Fides in Tacloban City.

There will be separate sessions for workers and employers of private establishments and domestic workers during the public hearing.

The wage board in Eastern Visayas granted a pay hike of P25, also in June last year.

Last week, the regional wage board in Central Visayas issued an order granting a salary increase of P33.

The Calabarzon wage board approved an increase ranging from P35 to P50 for minimum wage earners that will take effect on Sept. 24.

In Metro Manila, an increase of P40 in the daily minimum wage took effect on July 16.
