MANILA, Philippines — Lawyer Rommel Frias has been appointed as the new public information office (PIO) chief of the Parañaque City government.
Frias was designated by Mayor Eric Olivarez as PIO head on Monday.
Frias was the city’s legal chief during the administration of former mayor and now congressman Edwin Olivarez.
He replaced acting PIO head Rina Gabriel, wife of Councilor Pablo Gabriel Jr., who is not qualified for the position as she is not civil service eligible.
Frias’ son, Jerome Bart, won as Parañaque councilor in the last elections while his daughter Gean is Olivarez’s chief of staff.
