MANILA, Philippines — A portion of Tomas Claudio street in Manila will be closed to traffic beginning tonight until Nov. 30, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced yesterday.

In a traffic advisory, the MMDA said a portion of the street would be shut down to make way for the Skyway Stage 3 construction.

Motorists are advised to take alternate routes.

The MMDA said vehicles coming from Valenzuela street in Sta. Mesa, going to Beato Avenue or Beato street in Pandacan should take Ramon Magsaysay Avenue, left at Lacson Avenue, then straight to Quirino Avenue or left at Jesus street to point of destination.

Vehicles from Osmeña Highway going to Valenzuela street in Sta. Mesa should go straight to Quirino Avenue, then to Mabini Bridge, turn right at Ramon Magsaysay Avenue, right again at Valenzuela street to point of destination.

Motorists going to Beata street should go to Quirino Avenue, turn right at Tomas Claudio street to their destination.

Trucks and trailers should take Jesus street to Quirino Avenue.

The MMDA urged motorists to plan their trips during the duration of the road closure to avoid inconvenience.

Meanwhile, a 10-wheeler cargo truck turned on its side yesterday, blocking the northbound lane of C5 Kalayaan Interchange in Makati for hours.

The truck, which was loaded with feeds and fertilizers, blocked the main artery of the road.

The MMDA diverted motorists to the service road, and enforcers were deployed to man traffic in the area.
