MANILA, Philippines — Two suspected robbers were killed in what police said was a shootout in Quezon City at dawn yesterday.
Police have yet to identify the slain suspects described to be between 25 and 30 years old.
Lt. Col. Richard Ang, who heads the Novaliches police station 4, said the encounter took place in Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon at around 2:50 a.m.
Police said they chased the suspects and their two other cohorts after they reportedly robbed workers and customers of an eatery in Barangay Sauyo.
Instead of surrendering, Ang said the suspects pulled out handguns and fired at the police.
The two suspects died during the shootout. Their cohorts managed to escape.
Police said the eatery’s two employees and customers identified the slain suspects as the same persons who robbed them.
