MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.9 earthquake jolted parts of Southern Luzon yesterday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
Phivolcs said the temblor occurred at around 1:12 p.m., and was centered 22 kilometers northwest of Paluan, Occidental Mindoro.
The quake was felt at Intensity 3 in Paluan, Looc and Lubang in Occidental Mindoro; Intensity 2 in Manila, Malabon and Pasig, and Intensity 1 in Quezon City.
Instrumental Intensity 2 was recorded in Calatagan, Batangas and Tagaytay City and Intensity 1 in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro; Carmona, Cavite; Muntinlupa City, and Navotas City.
Phivolcs said no damage was expected from the quake, but warned the public of aftershocks.
Another quake, with a magnitude 3.5, struck 28 kms southwest of Paluan at 1:08 p.m. yesterday.
At about 4:42 p.m., a magnitude 3.6 quake hit Masbate. The epicenter of the quake was located seven kms southwest of Batuan, Masbate.
The temblor was felt at Intensity 3 in Masbate City.
