Members of the Special Weapons and Tactics unit of the Quezon City police said they asked the younger Alviz to surrender.

The suspect, who was armed with a .38-caliber handgun, refused.

“Ayaw niya sumuko kaya pinasok na namin ‘yung bahay,” Claraval said in a phone interview.

Police said the suspect attempted to shoot one of the lawmen but his gun got jammed.
