MANILA, Philippines — Authorities confiscated at least P5 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and in Makati City.

The Bureau of Customs, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group seized approximately 500 grams of shabu in two parcels at the LBC warehouse at the airport, according to BOC-NAIA district collector Mimel Talusan and PDEA-NAIA head Gerald Javier.

The first parcel contained 300 grams of shabu, valued at P2.04 million, misdeclared as “chocolate with chips.”

The parcel, sent by Glen Ong of San Pedro, Laguna, was supposed to be delivered to Regent Arcade Building in Iloilo.

The second parcel, misdeclared as “biscuits chocolate,” contained around 200 grams of shabu with a street value of P1.36 million. The shabu was hidden in a can of snacks.

The parcel was shipped by Sebastian Irene of Sta. Rosa, Laguna to B-3 Lower Level Gaisano City Araneta, Singcang, Bacolod City.

Meanwhile, operatives of the Kamuning, Quezon City police station; the Makati City police and the Southern Police District arrested Angel Bueno, 31; Maria Caamic, 40, and Norberto Ortiz, 43, in a sting in Makati City on Friday night.

Prescillas Val, 39, remains at large.
