MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City Hall of Justice was placed under lockdown yesterday after an employee of another agency holding office in the building died of suspected coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Executive Judge Cecilyn Burgos-Villavert said they received information that the employee went to the building days before his death.
The employee reportedly succumbed to pneumonia.
Villavert clarified that the fatality was neither an employee of the Regional Trial Court nor the Metropolitan Trial Court.
She said the lockdown was implemented to verify the report, disinfect the building and conduct contact tracing.
“Upon the authority given by Supreme Court administrator Jose Midas Marquez, the Quezon City Hall of Justice will be on lockdown beginning May 18 until further notice,” Villavert said.
